While this is not a fundamental concept as it is not a causally closed system, it is useful, as often we are concerned only with the dynamics of Earth. # expansion In [[technological love]], we often refer to the [[world]] or the system more or less interchangeably. These concepts are invoked based on their connotation. 'World' tends to invoke an image with salient life, beauty, familiarity, and importance. 'System' tends to invoke one that is more technical, mechanical, and precise. 'System' and 'world' are equivalent in that the world is understood as a [[causal closure of the world|causally closed]] and [[Coherence-grounded reality|coherent]] system. System is a slightly more general concept in that it applies to systems that are not our world, and in that it is sometimes used as shorthand for the concept of [[system-subsystem relationships|subsystems]] in addition to the full system defined by causal closure. 'System' may be used when we want the generality to be salient, and 'world' may be used when we want the concept to feel closer to our human experience. In addition to these, the term 'universe' is also used occasionally. 'World' is used when we are thinking mostly about the Earth system, which tends to be the primary focus of my work. 'Universe' may be invoked when we are interested in the true causally complete system and phenomena that may span it and require a more general presentation. ## motivation ## formal concept
